The largest and most elegant hotel built in Balmain, recently restored over six months, The Exchange Hotel boasts the new Zettal Room restaurant, 4 bars including the famous Safari Bar, 2 function rooms, live entertainment and of course the magnificent heritage verandah. This is a must visit when you are in Balmain.
This building dates back to 1885 and during its 110 years has gone through many structural and social changes. In 2004 the hotel was purchased by Joe and Peter Polifroni, who through hard work and an eye for detail, brought this National Trust building back to its former glory over 6 months of detailed renovations.
The Safari Bar has a new modern day take on the traditional Safari Bar, with a more sensual and luxurious side. Its understated elegance is reminiscent of Casablancan and Moroccan gin bars of the 1930's. The Safari bar is a sumptuous, comfortable, and vibrant space, with the comfort of the lounge seating on the verandah creating the perfect spot for a pre-dinner drink or a long night on the sofa.
The Zettal Room Restaurant located on level 1, with its warm, visually inspiring décor and ambience to match, carries a sense of surprise to marry with the chef's menu. Head Chef Timothy Standing and renowned pastry chef Belinda Shea, offer a delectable Modern Australian menu with French influences set to indulge your senses.
