The Carrington has a long and rich history spanning almost a century and a quarter since her establishment in 1880 by Sydney hotelier Harry Rowell. Opened in 1882 as The Great Western, this Grand Old Lady soon became a popular mountain retreat for international visitors, the elite of Sydney and those eager to see the natural wonders of The Blue mountains.
The Carrington reopened her doors in December, 1998 after eight years of restoration, and works are continuing on the restoration of the gardens, garages, stables, and powerhouse.
Come back to an era of grace, elegance and charm. Experience the unique ambience of The Grand Old Lady of The Mountains, and step through her doors to another time.
