Getting There
We're at the crossroads of the "short cut" from Sydney or Canberra to Adelaide or the Riverina and from Melbourne to QLD. The Goldfields Way is the quickest route for Victorians to Queensland, turning off the Hume Hwy around Ettamogah Pub (just north of Albury) and turning off the Newell Hwy at Wyalong. The Burley Griffin Way links two of the towns associated with this great architect - Canberra and Griffith. It's the quick way from Sydney to Adelaide, just by turning off the Hume Hwy just south of Yass. We are 90km from Wagga Wagga and 60km south of West Wyalong.
Things to do
Australia's only operational Spitfires (two of them) are on display at the Temora Aviation Museum, as well as the world's only operational Gloster Meteor, the world's only operational Hudson Bomber and much more. The Rural Museum is probably unique - Don Bradman's first home, a pioneer shack, a bush school and bush church as well as fully operational old tractors (including a steam tractor), old flour mill workings, telephone exchange and much more. Stroll the streets odf Temora and find our history as a gold mining town; Take one of the tours offered by the Aromet for its guests and learn about early Australia. Then, just down the road is the liquorice and chocolate factory at Junee, Australia's most haunted house - Monte Cristo, and a roundhouse railway museum. Lots of sport too.
