Ash's Holiday Units & Cafe offers something for everyone. The facilities include swimming pool, large lawn/garden area, fish cleaning facilities, off road parking, full guest laundry, BBQ's and shaded outdoor seating along with friendly staff. Take time to enjoy fishing, sightseeing, visit the Barramundi Discovery Centre, go on a fishing charter or an historic or birdwatching river cruise, enjoy a sunset cruise, take a croc & crab tour, play a round of golf, do some bird-watching or just lay back and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Karumba and Ash's. Karumba Markets every Sunday at the Tavern and various events and activities throughout the year. We can assist in making bookings or providing you information to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. Ash's is also the local agent for the Cairns to Karumba Bus Service - with 3 trips a week.
Further Information
Karumba is easily accessible via the sealed road network known as the Savannah Way - linking Cairns to Broome - or from Mt Isa - and is the only town to provide sealed road access to the Gulf coastline. The only place to enjoy your 'Outback by the Sea' experience. Ash's Cafe can assist with fishing tackle, bait, ice, drinks, supermarket and souvenir needs. Blocks or fillets of gulf fish (Barra, King Salmon, Grunter etc.) and seasonally fresh cooked Gulf prawns and mud-crabs are available. An extensive range of exclusive souvenirs particularly shirts from babies through to adults, postcards and more. The Visitor Information area helps with not only local information but the wider Gulf with brochures, maps and information from our friendly staff. Ash's has been looking after visitors to the Gulf for over 20 years and more and more people are being attracted to the adventure, environment and outback by the sea experience as it is so accessible today.
Getting There
From Cairns travel the Savannah Way through the Atherton Tablelands and out past Mt Garnet, Mt Surprise, Georgetown, Croydon, Normanton and into Karumba - approximately 780km in total. From Mt Isa follow the Matilda Highway and turn up at either Cloncurry or from Julia Creek - traveling past Burke & Wills Roadhouse, Normanton and into Karumba - approximately 500km.
