Centrally located in the heart of southwest Western Australia, Wagin is an easy 2- 3 hour drive for a day or weekend trip from Perth, Bunbury, Albany or Wave Rock. There is a lot to see and do and a range of accommodation (style and price) from which to choose.
Wagin was settled in the early 1880's on the Perth/Albany rail line and near the chain of lakes, which runs from Dumbleyung Lake and eventually drains into the Blackwood River. Early wealth, generated mainly by farming (wheat and wool) has left a legacy of significant early 20th century buildings.
Wagin's Giant Ram towering over the town was built by residents in 1985 to acknowledge the prosperity created by the wool industry.
