Our names are Peter Drackett and Vicki Bokros, and Down to Earth Opals is our business. Down to Earth Opals specialises in quality rough and cut black and crystal opal from Lightning Ridge, Australia, where we live and work.

We mine, cut and buy opal and buy opal from opal fields we know well, which means we can supply opal of guaranteed quality at great prices. We started in the opal trade in 1981, when we moved to Lightning Ridge from Queensland's Gold Coast. Like many residents of Lightning Ridge, we came to 'the Ridge' to visit - and stayed. We started buying and selling opal, and fell in love with the gemstone and the industry.

No two opals are the same - nature doesn't supply opals to order! So if you see an opal you love, don't let it go by. There will never be another quite like it!
