Catch a ride on board the historic "City to Bay" tram and visit the award winning Bay Discovery Centre at Glenelg Town Hall. Our aim is to enrich the experience of visitors and local residents by interpreting the history and culture of "The Bay".
Glenelg, Holdfast Bay has a special place in South Australia's history, being the site where the colony officially began in 1836. Our multimedia interpretive displays provide you with an engaging journey into the past, while our Mezzanine Gallery features work from some of South Australia's most talented contemporary visual artists. Afterwards, take yourself on one of our walking trails to explore the outdoors and discover some of the area's most significant sites - the "Proclamation Trail" will take you to the "Old Gum Tree" and the site of the First Landing, while "On the Beach" guides you to public art works along Glenelg's foreshore.
Our Volunteer team welcomes you to the Town Hall building and delivers the highest standard of service to help you enjoy your visit to the Bay Discovery Cenre.
