The historical collection (Circa 1867 - 1969) is housed in the former Police Station and Cell complex and comprises an extensive quantity of textiles, folders, boxes and files of photography and documents, wooden, leather and metal objects and river boat, rail, economic and family memorabilia and objects, much of which dates from the earlier portion of the above era and portrays much of the lifestyle of our early residents.
The museum is staffed by volunteers and is open to the public 11am till 3pm, seven days per week. Groups are welcome and a guide is available by appointment
Several of our members are very experienced researches, addressing inquiries for research from the general public, and indexing local newspapers from 1850 on a day to day basis. Fee for research is $20 for first inquiry, then $20 per hour thereafter.
With over 3500 items fully catalogued, another 1550 partially catalogued from our collection there are many items of interest.
