William Hardy Wilson who was a visionary architect, artist and writer constructed Eryldene Heritage House in 1914 for E.G.Waterhouse and his family.
Eryldene Heritage House And Camellia Garden is regarded as the 'spiritual' home of the camellia in Australia as Waterhouse planted, researched and propagated camellias. This enthusiasm earned Waterhouse international fame and respect, and brought the camellia back to popularity as a garden plant.
