The Penfield Model Engineers Society was formed by a group of enthusiastic live steam model makers in 1969. There are 120 metres of a HO HOn3 model railway track (on a six by four cubic metres layout) and radio controlled power and sail boats cruise around a new 3,000 cubic metre boat pond whilst quarter scale speedway race cars career around the newly built racetrack.
The clubs rebuilding program after being totally torn down to allow a new road to be constructed, has been completed to a stage that allowed the resumption of public open days on the last Sunday of each month with the exception of December.
A lot of work still has to be done but it is a credit to the many volunteers who have donated so much of their time to the rebuilding of the club. It is great to see the model trains and boats back in action as well as constant improvements to the existing facilities.
