The Riesling Trail, stretching from Clare to Auburn in the Clare Valley Wine Region, is one of the first rail trails to be developed in South Australia.
At 25km in length, the cycling/walking trail can easily be ridden one way in about 2hrs or walked in around 7hrs.
You can start your journey from a number of signposted side roads in each town (and even between towns).
For the experienced cyclist, there are three loop trails that will take you to even more attractions of the region. There are carparks close to the trail in Auburn, Watervale, Sevenhill and Clare.
*Clare to Sevenhill - 7 kilometres *Sevenhill to Watervale - 9 kilometres *Watervale to Auburn - 9 kilometres
The Riesling Trail travels past many cellar doors and other attractions, making it ideal for those wanting a leisurely walk or ride with a distraction or two.
Give yourself plenty of time to make the Riesling Trail a leisurely pursuit, not a speed challenge. The Riesling Trail is suitable for recreational walkers, and mountain & touring bikes, as well as wheelchairs and pushers.
