Tambo Teddies was established in 1992, as a result of a Future Search Workshop. The idea of the Teddy Bears being made out of wool took two days. Many said it wouldn't work, but after many laughs, three of the women decided to bite the bullet.
At the time of year this happened, the Western edge of Queensland had been drought stricken for two years, so it was the perfect way to promote the wool industry, as wool prices were at an all time low.
The first showing of the Tambo Teddies was in the Charleville Sheep Show, after many frustrating attempts, and over 20 Tambo Teddies were sold, and the enthusiasm of the public was enormous, that now over 27, 000 have been sold.
