The Beaufort House offers function areas and group accommodation in a private relaxed rural setting, and its central location means it is still within easy travelling distance from many centres.
- History
- Being just 21 kms off the Hume Highway on the Snowy Mountains Highway, nestled in the foothills of Kosciuszkio National Park, Beaufort House and Adelong, steeped in history, make a memorable stop over or getaway. The site where the Historic Beaufort House stands today was originally the Old Commercial Store which was built in 1858 and whose customers would have included many hopeful prospectors hoping to make their fortunes on the diggings at Adelong during the Gold rush. Circa 1864, the Commercial Hotel opened its doors on the site, which was later rebuilt in 1926 as a two-storey establishment, and stands today as the Beaufort House. The entrance doors of the hotel still carry the symbols on its windows as a reminder of the Commercial Hotel from yesteryear.
