Goldfields War Museum

This priceless art piece is the world's last surviving example of a working stage curtain painted by renowned artist Phillip Goatcher. Depicting a scene of the Bay of Naples, it has hung in the Boulder Town Hall since it's opening in 1908.

The work of one Victorian era's greatest scenic painters was discovered by accident in the historic hall and restored at a cost of $200,000 by the Shire and the fundraising efforts of Boulder Hidden Secrets.

An Englishman, Goatcher was nicked named "Satin'n'Velvet" for the lavish illusions he created for drop curtains that graced theaters from Paris to New York.

The curtain is located in the historic Boulder Town Hall and dropped by its original pulley system on Wednesdays and Boulder Market Days.
