Canberra, planned and designed by Walter Burley Griffin is also home to Lake Burley Griffin (named in his honour). The lake is an artificial one and finds its location in the approximate centre of Canberra. Despite its artificialness, the lake is attractive and has great recreational merit. Many of Australia's national icons grace its shores. The National Gallery of Australia, the National Museum of Australia, the National Library of Australia, the High Court of Australia and the Captain Cook Water Jet all cast their reflections into its waters, making it extremely picturesque.
