The Sir William Dobell memorial committee purchased the late artist's home to maintain as a memorial museum. Sir William had purchased the home from his father's estate in 1942 and lived there until his death in 1970. Dobell House is owned and operated by the Sir William Dobell Memorial Committee which is a completely volunteer organisation.
The Committee maintains the House as historically accurate as possible to reflect the life and artistic genius of its famous owner Sir William Dobell. The Committee encourages visitors on every level possible and opens the House for use by artists, musicians, school children and exhibitors in all areas of the creative arts.
The House remains a well cared-for testament to the continuing enthusiasm and dedication of the Committee and its volunteer members. Items on display include: furniture, possessions, memorabilia, family momentos, photographs and prints of his work.
