Montara Winery and vineyard have a glorious view with rolling foothills in the foreground leading on to the distant Pyrenees mountains. As a bonus, the rugged Grampians Ranges are only 45 minutes away and Melbourne is two hours away.
In 1970, the McRaes established their Montara Vineyard on the eastern slopes of Mount Chalambar a site chosen for its frost free location at an elevation of 350 metres above sea level high enough for cool nights to extend the ripening season of the grapes and thus building complexity of flavour. The rich red loam soils over a shale base and an adequate supply of recycled water contribute to the consistently high quality fruit.
Today, Montara Winery is well known Australia wide and internationally as one of the finest wineries in the Mount Chalambar district. Come along and taste some wine, see what all the fuss is about! Click through to the website for more information.
