The turnstile, which provides open access to the grounds is a relic from the railway yard and leads to the new visitor centre. The Pioneer House has been reconstructed from original materials, except for roofing, used in the first home built in 1908 and is set up as a working unit. Demonstrations are a feature.

Other Buildings Include: The One Teacher School, complete with flagpole, bell and cairn. Fully equipped for demonstration lessons.

The museum collection, containing a comprehensive display of photographs, maps and models, files and books in a study area, tapes and films that have local significance, and general thematic displays featuring various memorabilia relating to community history.
