Mount Muirhead Lookout allows you to see across the rich black soil flats to the township of Millicent and further on the horizon to the Limestone Coast and Canunda National Park.
The viewing platform is six metres by six metres in size and was constructed by the unemployed youth through the Millicent Employment Training Centre. There are forestry interpretive signs and information at the lookout and a large car park.
Mount Muirhead is the South Australian starting point for the Volcanoes Discovery Trail. It is a maar and scoria cone and was once part of the coastline. Mount Muirhead has an asymmetrical shape due to onshore winds and wave erosion caused by high winds during periods of volcanic activity.
