Harness Racing meetings have been held in Australia for over 130 years. Queensland is a state that has embraced the Harness racing culture and now boasts 6 Harness racing tracks. The tracks in QLD are Albion Park, Redcliffe, Gold Coast, Mackay, Rockhampton and Rocklea.
Harness Racing in Queensland was originally known as Night Trotting and officially began in Albion Park in 1968 on a right handed track inside the thoroughbred racing circle.
In the early 1980's thoroughbred racing ceased at the famous Albion track and the Government decreed that the park would now be solely devoted to a harness racing track.
