Afghan Rock is a huge granite outcrop complete with natural pools of water. This was a common watering stop for the Afghan Camel drivers during early pioneer days. Camels can still be found roaming the area.

Located west of the small township of Cue, the rock formation is on land that is dotted with the abandoned mines surround Cue. One such mine is the Day Dawn Mine, the large "open cut" seen at Day Dawn is the results of recent mining. The old Fingall mining office still stands, so too do the ruins of the old post office and hotel.
