BSL is Australia's largest aluminium smelter, currently producing more than 510,00 tonnes of aluminium a year. Commencing operations in 1982, BSL underwent a major expansion in 1997, doubling its capacity and making it one of the world's technologically advanced smelters.

Tours are conducted every Friday, and are free of charge. Bookings are essential, so make sure you call the Gladstone Area Promotion and Development (listed on contact details) to secure your tour of this fascinating establishment.

Opening Times: Mine to Market Tours commence at 9:15am each Friday from the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre, Bryan Jordan Drive.
Please Note: QAL and BSL visitors must be over 12yrs of age. Visitor must wear long pants, long sleeved shirts and enclosed shoes. Due to the electromagnetic fields caused by the reduction lines at BSL, it is compulsory that visitors who have medical implants such as PACEMAKERS or COCHLEAR IMPLANTS, DO NOT attend the BSL section of the Tour. Visitors are still able to attend the QAL section of the tour as the bus will return to the Information Centre prior to departing for the Smelter Tour.
