Queensland Alumina Ltd operates one of the world's largest alumina refineries, processing some 9 million tonnes of baxite a year to produce 3.95 million tonnes of alumina (Aluminium Oxide).
QAL is one of the state's most significant industrial giants. Being in operation for 44yrs, QAL has played a large part in building the social and economic fabric which defines the city of Gladstone as it is today.
Tours of both Qld Alumina Ltd and Boyne Smelters Ltd are taken together and part of the 'Mine to Market' tour each Friday from 0830.

- Visitors must be over 12yrs of age and must wear long pants, long sleeved shirts and enclosed shoes.
- Opening Times
- Mine to Market Tours depart each Friday from the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre at 0830 and incorporates a tour of Boyne Smelters Ltd. Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre on 07 4972 9000
