Sydney's Famous Govinda's Cinema & Restaurant now offers you a fantastic yoga studio with two great teachers; Sudevi & Caru Candra.

Sudevi has been a student of yoga since 1992, with 11 years of teaching experience. Her teaching techniques allow people from all walks of life to experience balance, harmony and physical fitness. She is a certified teacher in the Hatha Vinyasa Tradition and travels worldwide conducting seminars and workshops on postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama) and meditation.

For the past 15 years Caru has had the great fortune to practice traditional Hatha yoga with some of the world's great yoga teachers. His caring and dynamic style has taken him around the globe teaching advanced yoga postures, yoga philosophy and meditation techniques. Caru will also be conducting yoga workshops and other advanced yoga studies.

There are many classes to choose from at Govinda's Yoga and Meditation with beginners, general, intermediate and advanced sessions throughout the week.

Classes are conducted in Govindas Lotus Room a newly created serene space with polished wooden floors, ancient Indian temple doors and a wall of water creating a meditative mood of tranquility and peace. This is a unique Sydney meditation and yoga studio with a difference.

Special Features
Meditation- is an open class which teaches chakra awareness and breath control. These techniques help one to achieve a peaceful, focused mind. The meditation classes will consist of Bandhas(yogic locks) which helps one to sit properly by strengthening the pelvic floor and the muscles in the lower back. Pranayama to control the life force by the use of the breath. These breathing techniques will assist in focusing the mind and allow one to be quiet and still. Guided meditations(Dharana) through the use of Bija(seed) mantras to open the chakras(psychic wheels in the body). Yogic visualizations awaken the Kundalini(Gnana). These techniques assist us to go deep into self-realization, to understand who we actually are; one will tap into ones inner being and relationship with the divine.

Yoga- offers various levels of vinyasa (dynamic flow) hatha yoga from beginners through to advanced classes. Classes are designed to enable everyone to participate according to their individual level of experience and flexibility. Yoga nidra- teaches the art of conscious relaxation. One will learn to calm the mind, nervous and muscular systems while awakening the power of ones subconscious mind. Kirtan (Yoga chants)- every Saturday and Sunday evening. Kirtan is a participatory music experience of sacred Mantras and devotional chants. Chanting brings the ancient Yogic tradition of transcendental sound as a healing path and will tune you in to bliss. Vegetarian cooking classes- Sat & Sun between 11am-1pm. All classes have interactive demonstrations, take home recipes and lunch.
