Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Port Adelaide to Adelaide railway on Sunday 23 April 2006.

This was the first Government owned and operated steam hauled railway in Australia, with the birthday celebrations featuring many original trains, as well as purpose built replicas.

Celebrations will be based at the National Rail Museum, in Lipson Street Port Adelaide, with a range of special attractions and trips on restored trains.

Train Runs on the Day The Red Hen 1856 Reenactment Train Run. [One Way] Depart: Adelaide 11:30am Arrive: Museum Tickets. One Way Only $50 All tickets must be pre-booked using details at bottom of page. One way trip only. To return to Adelaide, tickets can be purchased for the public rail service, which departs from the Port Adelaide (Commercial Road) Station. These trains depart hourly at 16 minutes past the hour. Red Hen Express. Return Depart: Museum 4:50pm Arrive: Adelaide Tickets. Return $30, One Way $20 All tickets must be pre-booked using details at bottom of page. A limited number of one way tickets available, so book early.
