Further Information: The Kaola Care Centre: The Care Centre, located on the Southern Cross University campus in Lismore, NSW has 3 intensive care rooms where the koala can be closely observed while it is given the care and treatment it needs. There are also outdoor enclosures that the koalas can be transferred into as they improve. Some carers specialise in raising orphaned joeys, some have even successfully raised furless little pinkies. This is a round the clock commitment and the carer's house often ends up looking like a eucalypt forest as the joey needs to play and to learn to climb.
Further Information: The countryside and coastline of Northern New South Wales is S. The tour covers the coastline to the south of Byron Bay, through the hills orchards to old growth forests, open woodlands and grassy plains and well as coastal heath. Small country towns and villages are dotted along the way as are creeks, streams and the Richmond River snaking its way through the sugar cane fields.
