We are a partnership of two people from the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. David Evans and Roger Green. We invested in a vessel in 2004 to allow us to clean up the disgusting state of the Falmouth and Penryn Harbours. Litter and debris were all over the water and on the foreshore.
We were supported initially by the NMMC, A&P Docks, Carrick District Council, Falmouth Harbour Commissioners and Falmouth Town Council. Each gave us £200 to enable us to clean up during Falmouth Week. This funding has now run out ,so we are applying to Public Sector bodies and Private Business for sponsorship and funding in order to buy a state of the art vessel for the job. We have already had some positive and some negative replies, though in general all agree with our aims, some have not got funding available.
Since then we have learned a lot about the harmful effects of marine debris to people, sea life and fauna and flora. Dolphins, porpoises and turtles are ingesting in particular plastic and
