Tiverton Castle was originally built in 1106, and rebuilt and altered down the ages. It now houses a fine Civil War armoury, some pieces of which can be tried on, interesting furniture, pictures, medieval lavatories (use your imagination!), beautiful garden, ghosts.
The four large, self-catering and self-contained apartments, which have been totally refurbished and have been awarded the English Tourist Board National Quality Grading and Classification Scheme rating of 4 Stars, are found in the main Castle building.
All are approached through a turret door and the first and second floor apartments via a magnificent 17th century well staircase. There is full gas central heating and electricity. All beds have duvets, but blankets can be provided if preferred. Shared garden and garden furniture, barbecue, bonfire and croquet.
Free tours of the castle. Seasonal fruit and vegetables from the kitchen garden. Free Parking. Free fishing on the banks of the River Exe. Sorry, no pets, no smoking. Friday to Friday.
