Combe Sydenham Country Park is an historic site, made famous by Sir Francis Drake and now renowned for its excellent fly fishing! There are three spring-fed trout lakes with crystal clear waters, set on the border of Exmoor just 1/4 mile from the village of Monksilver, and its excellent pub The Notley Arms.
Combe Sydenham is a beautiful, secluded spot to fish and offers something for everyone. The Lodge pond is ideal for beginners with easy access from open, grassy banks. Sir George's and Lady Elizabeth's ponds are set in a peaceful, wooded valley, just a short stroll from the free car park.
Each lake is well stocked with rainbow, blue and tiger trout up to 16lbs. There is also a plentiful supply of wild brown trout, which fishermen are asked to return. There is some excellent sport to be had, with hard-fighting fish. A truly special place offering unrivalled scenery in the heart of the countryside.
