The Anchor is a charming pub with restaurant, situated on the river between the Tate Modern and Southwark Bridge.
Rebuilt in the 17th century, the building replaces that frequented by Shakespeare and Pepy's. It is claimed that Pepy's watched the Great Fire (1666) from here.
Great to visit in the summer as there are plenty of tables outside. Or you can just sit on the river wall and enjoy a drink.
