1.5-hour daily walks around the London markets, with an emphasis on those rare, remaining cockney markets.
Walks are led by Sandra Shevey who has an affection for these local treasures, and has written at length about the perils of disappearance faced with the gentrification of London's working-class neighbourhoods.
Sandra Shevey has in the past profiled English tourism for the English Tourist Board and the BTA Overseas Press Service; and in 2004 ran a series of four market walks for Westminster City Archives.
The walks are unique in taking an socio-historical overview of the markets; and along with intros to the traders and nip-ins to some of the more curious shops, Sandra Shevey uses memoirs, old photos, prints and drawings, and any other bits of magic to re-configure image of the markets in times past.
Walks run daily at 11am and most be booked ahead. Cost is £15.
