The 22-acre Thames Barrier Park is London's first major public parkland project for over 50 years. 6 years planning and construction, following an international design competition, has resulted in what the Daily Telegraph's gardening correspondent Jonquil Cargill described as 'a garden for the 21st century'.
Located in Silvertown, in the London Borough of Newham, East London, on the north bank of the River Thames overlooking the impressive architecture of the Thames Flood Barrier, Thames Barrier Park is integral to the continuing regeneration of the Royal Docks and Thames Gateway creating life-giving open space alongside complementary residential and commercial development.
There is a distinctive Anglo-French flavour to the design and construction combining the talents of award winning landscape designers, architects, structural engineers and horticulturalists.
The park is currently owned, operated and maintained by the London Development Agency.
