Wentworth Castle Gardens are hidden away in green rolling hills 5 minutes from Junction 37 of the M1 near Barnsley, less than an hour from Leeds or Sheffield. This magnificent parkland estate features over 26 listed monuments as well as a 60-acre garden which cares for National Collections of Magnolias, Rhododendrons and Camellias.
RESTORATION 2004 - 2008
After appearing on the BBC series 'Restoration', an ambitious project is underway to save the estate. Phase One of the project includes the following work: * Restoration of the gardens, including the Union Jack Garden, Victorian Secret Garden, Stainborough Castle and protection works to the Conservatory; * Restoration of the estate Parkland and Woodland (some 500 acres in total); * Works to improve paths, car parks and signage; * Restoration of the derelict Home Farm to create a visitor centre and café; and * Repair of Wentworth Castle and development of Home Farm buildings to create new facilities for the Northern C
