Some of the finest works of art in a stunning Hampstead setting. In splendid grounds beside Hampstead Heath, this outstanding neoclassical house contains one of the most important collections of paintings ever given to the nation. Works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Turner, Gainsborough and Reynolds are all set against a backdrop of sumptuous rooms.
The house was remodelled by Robert Adam (1764-1779), when he transformed the original brick house into a majestic villa for the great judge, Lord Mansfield. The richly decorated library is one of his masterpieces.
Kenwood House is a popular film location, Notting Hill (1998) starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts and Jane Austen's Mansfield Park (1999) starring Harold Pinter, and 101 Dalmations have all been filmed here, as well as popular television dramas such as the recently broadcast 'William and Mary' starring Martin Clunes.
