Auckland Castle

This historic castle with its magnificent Chapel, Throne Room and Long Dining Room, has been the home of the Bishops of Durham for over 800 years, and today is the Bishop's official residence.

Auckland Castle has been a meeting place for many thousands of visitors, today remaining a prestigious venue, combining traditional splendour in the original reception rooms with modern facilities to suit corporate requirements. Auckland Castle offers a unique setting and attentive service for all types of event from small intimate dinner parties to product launches and wedding celebrations.

Also open to the public during the summer season, the Castle and tour guides offer insights into history since the Norman conquest.
