Created by local entrepreneur and philanthropist Ralph Allen, with advice from both the pioneer of landscape gardens the poet Alexander Pope and 'Capability' Brown, the garden is set in a sweeping valley with magnificent views of the city of Bath. The many interesting features include a Palladian bridge and three lakes. The Wilderness Project, part-funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, is the final phase of the restoration of this sustainably managed garden, reinstating the Serpentine Lake, Gothic Temple, Grass Cabinet and Mrs Allen's Grotto. A 5-minute walk from the garden leads on to the Bath Skyline, a 6-mile circular walk around the city which encompasses woodlands, meadows, an Iron Age hill-fort, Roman settlements, 18th-century follies and spectacular views.Prior Park College, a co-educational school, operates from the mansion (not NT)
