The Hunterian Museum founder William Hunter was famous for saying 'to acquire knowledge and communicate it with others, has been the pleasure, the business, and ambition of my life'. The Hunterian shows just some of the great knowledge he acquired.

The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery hosts a vast display of local history, art, anatomy and zoology collections. Whether you want to find out about Captain Cook's famous voyage or research the nervous system and organs of the senses it is all here. As well as our permanent displays, we have a programme of temporary exhibitions, drawn both from our off-site collections, and from hiring appropriate touring exhibitions.
