Canterbury Royal Museum & Art Gallery is a splendid Victorian building houses decorative arts and picture collections - including a gallery for T.S. Cooper, England's finest cattle painter.

The art gallery is the major space in the area for the visual arts. The annual programme is wide ranging, with exhibitions of both contemporary and historical work.

Here too is the Buffs Museum - a branch of the National Army Museum - which tells the story of one of England's oldest infantry regiments and its worldwide service. There is an extensive collection of medals with Victoria Crosses and other gallantry awards.

Further Information
THE REGIMENTAL MOTTO This dates from the first placing of the Dragon on the Colours, about 1751; the badge was green and the old Colour of the regiment also being green expresses the desire that each new generation of Buffs lives up to the Honours won by the Regiment in the past. Thus "Veteri Frondescit Honore" translated becomes "With its Ancient Honour it is Evergreen"
