Salts Mill in Bradford is a great place to go for a day out. There are 3 public floors of massive space, which have been converted from the original wool textile mill, into a world of art, music, books, flowers, shops, and a general ambience of unhurried pleasure.
The Mill was first opened in 1853 as a very grand textile mill employing 3000 workers. Titus Salt, who built the mill at the side of the River Aire also built churches, schools and houses for the work force. The whole area was named Saltaire.
Salt mill also houses the largest collection of David Hockney's work in the world, for those interested in his outstanding work.
