The Hatton Gallery shows an exciting programme of contemporary and historical art alongside exhibitions featuring work from the gallery's permanent collection. Exhibitions change every 6 to 8 weeks. Please contact the gallery for details of our current exhibitions.

The gallery's permanent collection comprises of over 3,500 works, which include painting, sculpture, prints, drawing and many other media. Of paramount importance is the Merzbarn wall by Kurt Schwitters. The Hatton's collection of paintings includes works from the 14th century to the present day. Of prime importance are paintings by, amongst many others, Francis Bacon, Palma Giovane, Camillo Procaccini, Patrick Heron, William Roberts, Victor Pasmore and Richard Ansdell.

Local Area
The Hatton Gallery can be found within the Quadrangle of the University of Newcastle. The transportation network within the city offers convenient access to the gallery via rail, metro and road. The Haymarket Metro Station and Percy Street Bus Station are only a short walk from the gallery. Parking in the city centre is abundant, with public parking in University grounds available on Saturdays.
