The Southampton City Art Gallery has a Permanent Collection of over 3,500 works of international reputation. The Collection, which spans six centuries from the Renaissance to the present day, has been 'Designated' by the Government as having special national significance.
The collection's greatest strength is 20th century British Art. The Gallery is now internationally renowned for its impressive collection of contemporary works by British artists.
A fine selection of works by the Camden Town Group, and paintings by such highly reputed artists as Sir Stanley Spencer, Matthew Smith and Philip Wilson Steer are brought together.

- How to find us: By Foot: The Gallery is housed within the Civic Centre, on Commercial Road. There is a large round fountain on the forecourt and the entrance faces Watts Park. Ascend the stairs in front of you inside the entrance foyer. By Car: Follow signs to the City Centre from the M3/ A33 from the north, A3024 and A33 from the west, and M27/ A335 from the east. The nearest multi-storey car parks are West Park, Grosvenor Square, the Marlands and West Quay.
