Beamish is unique. It's no ordinary museum but a living and working experience of life as it was in North East England in the early 1800s and early 1900s. Most of the buildings you will see here have been brought from across the region and rebuilt within this vast 300 acre site.

New at Beamish in April 2006, Masonic Temple in the Award-winning Town. Explore the fine Masonic Temple where the story of Freemasonry in 1913 is revealed. The only one of its kind in Europe permanently open to the public.
New at Beamish late May 2006, Puffing Billy Steam Locomotive. Steam along behind this wonderful working replica of William Hedley?s famous 1813 steam locomotive.
