Dowfold House was originally built for Joseph Pease, the first Quaker MP and local mine owner in 1860. This traditional English house sits on a hill overlooking the small town of Crook, with uninterrupted views across Wear Valley and on to Weardale, yet less than 20 minutes from Durham city centre.
Each of the colour themed rooms are tastefully decorated and well equipped. The rooms are all double glazed and centrally heated for your comfort and they have views overlooking the surrounding countryside. They all have ensuite bathroom and/or shower facilities.
Relax in front of the fire in the guest lounge and select something to read from the library. Stroll around the garden or enjoy a traditional cream tea on the patio or play a round of croquet.
Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room, where you will be amazed by the extensive menu offering anything from a full English to smoked salmon on scrambled eggs or a continental style breakfast.
