Very smart, yet quirky, restaurant specialising in serving high quality seafood dishes. The atmosphere is very cosmopolitan with professional, formal service. However, the the formality of the service doesn't make this a stuffy place to eat - it manages to combine the professionalism with an unpretentious attitude and a relaxed intimate ambience. The restaurant is sited in Deep Dene House, which was built in 1870 by Lord William George Armstrong to house his animals and the Lodge part was lived in by Captain Noble who was in charge of his care. What's cooking: Potato and fennel soup with rosemary scones, fresh pea and pancetta risotto, marinated salmon with pickle oysters and yoghurt dressing, supreme of braised halibut with wild mushrooms and braised fennel, roasted breast of guinea fowl with baby leeks, black trompette mushrooms and foie gras sauce, salmon fillet topped with lobster mousse, tian of provencale vegetables and basil cream
