A tiny, trendy gem of a place just barely out of New Town, Halo is very now. It's super-designed with leather and copper stud bar, great lighting, a slices-of-leather-brick wall, orchids everywhere, and mirrors surrounded with clear baroque frames that look just like ice. The buzz here is terrific, and the fantastic staff mix truly stunning drinks with all the grace of Olympian gymnasts. The staff are fantastic, capable, friendly, attractive. Funky sounds spill out over the smart, groovy crowd. The menu is small, with a good line in urban tapas to go with your drinks. Try the homemade chicken liver pate with toasted brioche, then the beer-battered cod with thick cut chips and chunky tartar sauce, and dessert of homemade banoffee pie.
