Its striking design is based on a Jacobean baronial hall, which means an ornate coffered ceiling supported by carved oak hammer beams. Crisp white tablecloths and fine bone china sets contrast with the surrounding warm mahogany panelling - an ideal setting for ladies who lunch, business folk, foodies and romantic diners alike. The setting might be thoroughly English but the cuisine, directed by the Michelin-starred protégé of Gordon Ramsay and former head-chef at Amaryllis Restaurant in Glasgow, Colin Buchan, is Modern French to the last. The whole charming affair is overlooked by restaurant manager Patrice and his enthusiastic team.
