Not a lesser sibling of the established Thai Pavilion Soho, but a fully-fledged member of the family, Thai Pavilion East is a handsome and welcoming restaurant. Its semi-circular room with vast glass frontage overlooking the Imperial War Museum and its gardens is smartly kitted out in sleek modern style. The service is quick and kind, and the ambience quite zen-like. The menu consists of both traditional Thai dishes, like pad thai and curries with or without coconut milk, as well as a stream of new inventions that issue from the kitchen at regular intervals. The wines, beers and cocktails are nicely chosen to balance the freshness of the flavours, and the plates are beautifully presented.
