For those of you who are fans of the uber-trendy Nobu, or who would like to be if only you could get a table, Ubon brings the best possible news. Ubon is Nobu spelled backwards, but there is nothing at all awry in this eastern branch of Nobu central. The waiters drop everything to shout the same Japanese greeting as you enter. The lovely, modern dining room with fabulous views over the Thames is everything you'd wish for as well as a favourite venue for celebrities. And the food is indescribably great. This is Japanese cuisine lifted to a new level by Nobu's Japanese-Peruvian founder. Order the yellowtail tartar with caviar, the tuna tempura roll, and black cod with miso, then order them all again. There's a great lunchtime bento box, and you can even get there by boat.
