You'd expect stellar food standards in a De Vere hotel. Aslan doesn't disappoint. A stylish, peaceful central Piccadilly venue overlooking Fortnum & Mason, it lends itself well to business lunches and dinners, but offers scenes of excellence for all who choose to dine from its appealing, globe-trotting menu. A meal might start in Japan with a carrousel of shrimp and baby asparagus dressed with wasabi, and end much closer to home with a grilled fillet of Scottish beef accompanied by noisette potatoes and a rich Roquefort sauce. Wines range from £20 to £43. The Connaught Hotel's pianist plays every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening. The animal-theme doesn't stop at the décor - a £1 donation on every bill goes to the Born Free Foundation.
