The Yorkshire market town of Pateley Bridge is only a small place with a population in the region of 2000 - though once had some significance as a lead mining centre. Pateley Bridge is well worth visiting in itself but it also is within just a few miles of some wonderful amenities.
The town is in the heart of the Nidderdale, less than 10 miles from Harrogate and Ripon. Pateley Bridge has retained its character as a market town with plenty of small shops, including the oldest sweet shop in England, it was established in 1827.
The spectacular Brimham Rocks are just a couple of miles away. The 80' gorge at How Stean is just a short drive north and Stump Cross Caverns is just a few minutes away. A World Heritage site, Fountain's Abbey is only 6 miles from Pateley Bridge as is the famous Ripley Castle.
The boundary of The Harefield Hall runs along the River Nidd offering sport for fishermen and also those wanting to enjoy the countryside on foot by way of the footpath.
